The "Unknown God" Revealed ========================== m: Bob Sorem, ca. 1964 w: E.P. McNeill Tune: Ohne Name Meter: Irr. Bible ref.: Acts 17; John 4 [Verse 1] When Paul passed by the altar inscribed "To God unknown," He said, "Listen and I'll proclaim, God to you alone: My God made this planet, and ev'rything on it. God is the Lord of heaven, and earth the infinite." [Verse 2] Human hands can't serve God, for God has no earthly need; But God gave to us ev'rything -- this we must concede. Our life, breath and being comes from our God alone, Who lives not in the shrines where we worship "the unknown." [Verse 3] God created all people: from Adam we all came. We're scattered o'er the face of earth -- nations beyond name. We must feel our own way to find that God is real; It is God's hope for us that we will seek God and kneel. [Verse 4] God is not far from us, each one can God pursue. For in God we all live and move, have our being, too. Now we see the true God no longer is unknown. We come before God's Presence and feel God's love to us shown. [Verse 5] Now the hour is coming, for all believers true, To worship God in spirit, and ourselves renew. God wants us to worship, and salvation to seek, No matter who we are: Jew, Samaritan or Greek.
