The Firefighter's Hymn ====================== m: B.F. White, 1844 w: Adapted from a poem by Kay Cutmore Tune: Beach Spring [Verse 1] Thank you for your great protection, Thank you, God, for answered pray'r; As we strive to do our duty, May we serve with constant care. When we go to fight each fire, And each rescue on the way, Let us never tire of serving, Be it night or be it day. [Verse 2] On the streets and in the byways, Guide our steps, O Lord, each day; Give each one your strength and courage, Answ'ring calls that come our way. When we sometimes are discouraged Help us keep our thoughts on you; May you never leave us helpless, May you always see us through. [Verse 3] Thank you for the crews we serve with, Sharing valour, sharing fears; Help us to support each other As we strap upon our gear. May you bless each fam'ly present, Give protection, hold them near; May community be strengthened By each life we hold so dear.
