The shepherds in the night; (so dark;)
did see a glory light; (so bright.)
An Angel spoke to them,
of joy evermore:
now and evermore.
The world was so loveless; (so cold;)
most shunning God's kindness; (so warm;)
'Til Jesus came to earth,
brought the love of God,
opened heaven's door.

We, by nature empty; (nothing;)
given treasure lofty; (so much;)
When Christ came in our hearts,
filled us with His love;
we made Him our King.
Tho others know no joy; (so sad;)
His riches fill our lives; (so glad;)
And ever will we praise
our God kind and true;
of His goodness sing.
